Fauno
Rio de Janeiro, Brasil
12 – 29 April 2018
2 x 2 x 2 m
Collaborating with director Gustavo Gelmini and dancer-choreographers Tiago Oliveira and Mônica Burity, Penique productions participated in their inaugural contemporary dance piece.
Fauno is the second installment of a creative trilogy by Gelmini that began with Toque, SESC Rio de Janeiro, 2017, a selected highlight of O Globo dance critics.
Delivering for the first time a performance piece – a breathing, sculptural inflatable – that offset the intensity of the choreographed dance piece.
Fauno addresses the prevalent notion of machismo in society today via dance. By deconstructing symbols of male power in a sensitive expression of creativity, confronting primitive emotions such as fear, the dance proposes a homeostatic balance to nature.
